We are your sisters, mothers, daughters.
We are your employees, your employers, your grocers,
your mechanics, your scientists, your professors,
your nannies, your reporters, your teachers.
We are your neighbors, your doctors, your janitors,
your heads of state, your artists, your friends. We are Louisiana.
We are mothers who passionately believe in the physical,
emotional, and developmental benefits of breastfeeding.
By contributing our time, talents, and
been-there-done-that wisdom, we believe we can make a
difference by supporting women who have an interest in breastfeeding.
Through a labor of love, supported by one another and
the local community, we birthed this site as a way for
mothers from all walks of life to unite so that more
children and parents can reap the amazing benefits of breastfeeding.
We are The BreastFederation!
Breastfederation.org is 100% financed by Louisiana mothers and
members of the local communities.

Every month, we will feature an inspiring breastfeeding story submitted by
mothers like you. Read more breastfeeding testimonies
here.
Please share your breastfeeding
story with us and become part of The BreastFederation.
This month, our story comes from our very own poster-mom, Rebecca. Rebecca is
not only a loving and breastfeeding mother of three, she is also the mom you
saw on our billboard.
"I grew up knowing that I was breastfed as an infant.
My parents taught me that breastfeeding was the normal
and natural way to feed a baby. I always knew I would
breastfeed my own children when I became a mother.
I had my first child very young and read books to
educate myself on breastfeeding during my pregnancy.
I prepared for the task by learning as much as I could
before delivery so that I would be successful. I breastfed
my daughter during a time when breastfeeding was not as
popular as it is now; I was a senior in high school. Now
that I am a nurse, I am passionate about breastfeeding. I
understand the benefits for mom and baby. The physiological
changes the body makes to feed a newborn human are amazing.
Breastfeeding is what we were designed to do by our creator.
I have gone on to have two more children who were also breastfed.
I have raised my older daughter and am raising my younger children
to know and understand that breastfeeding is what human women were
designed to do when an infant is born. They see it as a normal and
natural thing. As a nurse working towards an advanced degree, the
public health implications of breastfeeding are huge. People need
to be educated about breastfeeding and come to understand its benefits
to our society at large."
